Yet the investigation of strange events in the northern lands of the Efra Valley draws him into a story far older and far more dangerous than any sea monster. Enmela is a priest of the moon god Nadmu from the city of Larsha, one of the ancient religious centers of the Efra Valley. The priests of this cult are known as keepers of sacred texts, guardians of old rites, and scholars of the valley’s long and complex history.
He joins the journey of Hedo Shimun and his crew during the investigation of strange events unfolding in the northern lands of the former kingdom of Farnah. Enmela’s knowledge of ancient traditions, forgotten cults, and early history proves invaluable in understanding what is happening in those lands where the past has never truly disappeared.
Over time, a deep bond forms between Enmela and Shimun. Though they come from very different worlds one a feared sea hunter and mercenary, the other a servant of an ancient temple their paths gradually become intertwined.
As their journey through the ruined lands of Farnah continues, Enmela becomes more than just a companion. His knowledge and beliefs play an important role in uncovering the truth behind the forces awakening in the forgotten corners of the valley.
Simug is the kybernetos of Hedo Shimun. Among the sea hunters he is widely known by the name the Black Kybernetos.
He almost always wears black and prefers to remain in the background. Grim and reserved, Simug rarely speaks about himself and has little patience for unnecessary words. Instead, he acts calmly and with quiet determination.
Across Enmershan his name is known among those who live by the sea and the sword. Many call him the dark shadow standing behind the Demon of the Bloody Water, for Simug is almost always found at Shimun’s side in the most dangerous moments.
He rarely argues with his trierarch and unfailingly takes Shimun’s side. Their alliance is built not on oaths or profit, but on a trust forged through long voyages and dangerous trials.
Little is known about Simug’s past. Yet as their journey leads them toward the lands of Farna, it becomes clear that his fate is tied to those places far more deeply than anyone might expect.

Ortis is the proreus of the trireme Malkit and one of the closest companions of Hedo Shimun. Among the sea hunters he is known as a capable fighter and a man whose voice is rarely quiet for long.
A native of the island state of Sahios, Ortis proudly carries the traits of his people. His wild red curls and strong build make him easy to recognize, and his appearance is often compared to the statues of the ancient gods of his homeland.
Unlike the more reserved members of the crew, Ortis is open, talkative, and fond of wine, celebration, and lively company. His sharp tongue and fearless nature often lead him into trouble — and occasionally drag the rest of the crew with him.
Despite this reputation, Ortis remains one of the most dependable men aboard the Malkit. As proreus he stands among the highest-ranking members of the crew, responsible not only for the discipline of the ship but also for maintaining order among men who live by the sword and the sea.
